NCC TF Meet Recap

We had some very good performances on Friday at the North Central TF Invite; in fact, every person that competed had an excellent meet!

Alexa Powalski – ran both the 60m and 60 Hurdles. Alexa ran a fine 8.60 in the 60m dash, which is only .13 away from #10 in school history in the event. She ran 10.21 in the hurdles, which is tied for #8 all-time in school history and 13th in the CCIW, very close to the top 8 and scoring at conference (9.90).

Mia Riccolo – after 3 straight 12 hour overnight shifts for nursing, a very tired and somewhat out-of-it Mia threw a season best of 12.40m in the shot put, which is 4th in the CCIW. She also had 3 other excellent 12 meter + throws. She also threw over 13m twice in the Weight Throw (PR is 13.85).

Jose Barrio – 2nd in Long Jump with a Personal Record (PR) of 6.68m. He is now 3rd in the CCIW and is also 2nd in school history. Next Stop = School Record. Jose had 4 jumps that were better than his previous PR. In the hurdles, Jose was 3rd in a PR of 8.77 which is now 4th in the conference and 6th all-time in school history.

Elizabeth Armstrong – had a nice big PR in the shot put of 8.70m and is closing in on a top ten all-time mark (needs 9.76m to get 10th on NPU’s list). Her 2nd best throw was also a PR!

Elise Ruud – Had a great meet, with a PR in the 60m (8.39) which is #9 all-time in school history. Elise also ran 9.59 in the 60m hurdle prelims, to qualify for the final (her season best is 9.54) but didn’t run the finals to be safe while dealing with a small nagging injury.

James Lauscar – PR of 9.73 in the Shot Put and the big improvements in his technique! Two more weeks of practice should see him 10.5 or more.

George Corey – Two excellent throws in the Shot Put – both near his season best of 13.29. He threw 13.24 and 13.21. George has an excellent shot to score at the conference meet in two weeks.

Mitchell Koeckeritz – 1.91m in the High Jump – which is Mitchell’s college PR. He had two very good attempts at 1.96m. He is ranked 7th in the conference; He is 4th all-time in NPU history.

Justin Williams – threw 10.53 in the SP which is right at his season best of 10.55. Also very good improved mechanics. If he can get the shot UP more he is an easy 11.5m thrower in two weeks.

Terence Hollis – had a good PR in the 60m dash of 7.34, placing 13th and almost making the final. Anything under 7.20 has a shot to make the final at conference so he is nearing that level.

Next meet is this Saturday at the University of Chicago Invite, 11:30am start time.
